Skipping. How hard can one exercise be? What do you need? A rope and space, that's about it. Nevertheless, people either love it or hate it.

Do it wrong and you look like a complete arse that can't appear to coordinate hand, eye [and feet], do it right and aerobic capacity, lactate threshold, coordination, footwork [and kudos] to name but a few are all enhanced.

Boxers are renowned as great skippers and before every session can be seen jumping rope for round upon round before even starting the main technical part of the class. 'Pretty boy' Floyd Mayweather is one example that springs to mind that literally dazzles with his skipping ability but then there is Mariusz Pudzianowski (3 times worlds strongest man) surely this proves that no matter what shape you are you have no excuse not to be able to skip!

The below video will attempt to show various basic examples of footwork that can be used during skipping that will eventually provide a little variety to a very taxing yet highly beneficial aspect of training.

Enjoy!
